The Story
As a first-time buyer, our client needed guidance on which areas of London would work for his budget and brief. On our first property tour, we showed him areas across the breadth of London – both north and south of the river. As our search progressed together, Brixton emerged as the clear favourite area. We found a purpose-built, modern house just off Brixton Hill within half a mile of the station. Unlike period properties, the house was built with sound proofing between the ceilings and floors – which is often challenging to find. The top floor provided a penthouse-like room, perfect for a music studio as it had no shared walls with neighbours. While the property was on the market for well above our client’s budget, we advised that it was still worth viewing as it had been on the market for some time. We managed to agree the sale for £110,000 below the asking price, and within our client’s original budget.
